there is a fine line between enthusiasm and realism. Who would possibly read/listen to conference talks on you-tube?...encouraging those who are in the possession of the abstracts and who are aware anyways?
Awareness of the masses yes - but not via conference talks.
Awareness of the masses - how about introducing some public transport and rubbish separation in for example florida before hitting the 'abstract' stuff.
Its a matter of change in mentality - and that aint gonna happen through you-tube - unfortunately.

Consider video recording each presenter/presentation (including posters) to post
on a you-tube or ted.com style streaming video situation. That way nothing will
be missed. Does not need to apply only to ICRS. Link the recorded presentation
to the paper PDF for simplicity in use/comprehension.
This would also fit into the "word to the masses" thread.
