I would like to point out that a new publication suggests /Acropora
cervicornis/ may be on the mend. Ironically it is happening in an area
where toxic pesticides are not allowed, Dry Tortugas National Park.
Lidz B. H., and Zawada D. G., 2013, Possible Return of /Acropora
cervicornis/ at Pulaski Shoal, Dry Tortugas National Park, Florida.
/Journal of Coastal Research/ 29, 2, 256-271. On line
at:<http://www.jcronline.org/doi/pdf/10.2112/JCOASTRES-D-12-00078.1>
Also it should be remembered that what killed Staghorn coral at Dry
Tortugas was the unusually cold winter of 1977, as documented by Gary
Davis.
Davis, G. E., 1982, A century of natural change in coral distribution at
the Dry Tortugas: a comparison of reef maps from 1881 and 1976.
/Bulletin of Marine Science/, v. 32, pp. 608-623.
