It is my distinct pleasure to announce that NOAA's Atlantic
Oceanographic and Meteorological Laboratory, in Miami, Florida, is
seeking a research oceanographer to conduct coral reef ecosystem ocean
acidification research. The position will be open for application for
only a short time (March 1 to March 11, 2013).
DUTIES
The individual selected for this position will: Investigate the
physical, chemical, and biological characteristics of coral reef
ecosystems, and how stressors--in particular ocean
acidification--impact these ecosystems. Disseminate research
findings through peer-reviewed publications and conference
presentations on topics related to coral reef science and marine
ecology. Prepare one primary author paper every other year and one
contributing author paper every year. Develop projects and obtain
funding for research activities and support personnel to investigate
ocean acidification on coral reef ecosystems. Serve as the chief
scientist on field programs investigating coral reefs, including
work with SCUBA. Lead a team of contractors and post-doctoral
associates in reach research program investigating ocean
acidification on coral reefs.
