I would like to draw your attention to three open positions for
Oceanographer at NOAA's Atlantic Oceanographic and Meteorological
Laboratory in Miami. The salary range is $61,963 to $135,670 / year
(ZP-3, ZP-4, depending upon experience). Below is the link, with a

This Oceanographer, ZP-1360-3/4, position is with the NOAA Atlantic
Oceanographic & Meteorological Laboratory (AOML), Physical
Oceanography Division. The position conducts or provides support
for basic and applied research in the coupled ocean and atmospheric
system in order to better understand the factors affecting both
climate and the environment. This position is supervised by the
Director of the Physical Oceanography Division.
AOML, a federal research laboratory, is part of NOAA's Office of
Oceanic and Atmospheric Research , located in Miami, Florida. AOML's
research spans hurricanes, coastal ecosystems, oceans and human
health, climate studies, global carbon systems, and ocean observations.
*Who May Apply*: U.S. Citizens and Nationals, Merit Promotion
candidates, and those eligible for noncompetitive appointments or
special hiring authorities.
You are eligible under Merit Promotion procedures and/or
noncompetitive appointment/ special hiring authorities, if you meet
one of the following criteria:
• Federal employees with career or career-conditional appointments
in the competitive service.
• Federal employees with career or career-conditional appointment in
the excepted service and under an Interchange Agreement.
• Former Federal status employees with reinstatement eligibility
based on previous Federal service.
• Displaced Federal employees requesting special priority selection

*DUTIES*:
Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:
• Developing and implementing studies and research to
determine the effect of the ocean on the climate;
• Designing, collecting, compiling, processing, analyzing and
interpreting oceanographic data;
• Preparing data reports and scientific articles; and,
• Using knowledge of oceanographic sampling systems, applying
this knowledge in problem solving and presenting results.
Additional duties at the ZP-4 band include:
• Using a proficiency in statistical analysis of global scale
data sets to interpret results in comparison with model data; and,
• Using extensive knowledge of large-scale ocean-atmosphere
interaction, interannual-decadal climate variability, and a mastery
of geophysical fluid dynamics to prepare scientific papers for
publication.
